Flight on Barolo

The balloons come back to Barolo! On 19th and 20th October 2013 it will be possible to fly above Barolo and its vineyards, admiring the fabulous view of the Langhe, enriched in those days by the colors of autumn.

Participants can choose between a real tourist excursion of Barolo and the surrounding area for a period of about an hour, or opt for a flight bound on the country for a period of 5 minutes.

At this ambitious project have already joined numerous drivers of international fame, including the flight pioneer John Aimo. Their hot air balloons will color the skies for the whole weekend.

Program and flight timetable:

  • from 8:30am to 11:00am free flights of Barolo and surroundings
  • from 3:30pm to 6:30pm on flights bound Barolo
  • from 3:00pm to 5:30pm free flights of Barolo and surroundings

The flight ticket can be purchased by contacting the Fly-In (tel. 348 5012375-0172 649340 – info@in-balloon.it).

In case of bad weather the flight will not be lost: those who had bought the ticket will be able to fly in such other date to be agreed with the Fly-In.

The proceeds will be donated to “Gabriella Bertino’s Fund” to purchase a Bronchoscope for the Structure of Health of Dogliani, specializing in the care of people with ALS.

Feast of Barolo

The second weekend of September Barolo is celebrating one of the most anticipated events of the summer: the “Feast of Barolo”.

Saturday September 7th at 8.00 pm, at the Recreation Club Gigi Pira, music and mixed grill under the stars.

Sunday September 8th at 11.00 am opens the “Itinerary of Taste“: streets and squares will be invaded from the banks of the exhibitors and the emplacements taste of the fair, where you can enjoy Piedmont specialties, accompanied by wines from the wine growers of Barolo. The “Itinerary of Taste” will be welcomed by street performers and jugglers from the late morning and in the afternoon is expected to show the Philharmonic Awakening of Dogliani, historical music band founded in 1891 and consists of about 40 members. Cristina Corino and Renzo ‘d Caraj will entertain the children with games and skits.

During the day you can visit the wineries of the marquis in the Falletti Castle, home to the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo and the Wine Museum (WiMu), and the nearby Corkscrew Museum.

The cellars of wine producers in the municipal area will be open to visitors.

“Collisioni”: the festival is coming to Barolo

The most awaited festival of the summer is back in Barolo from 5th to 9th July: enjoy for a tour in Langhe!

Four days of music, literature, art, food and wine: for the fifth consecutive year the hills of Langhe become the centerpiece of one of the biggest events on the international art scene.
From 5th to 9th July the town of Barolo will be “invaded” by thousands of people, coming from all over Europe to attend the concerts and participate to literary events in the enchanting scenery of the hills.
Among the events of this year stand out performances by international stars Elton John (July 9th), the only Italian leg of his European tour, and Jamiroquai (July 5th), in addition to meetings with Ian McEwan, Michael Chabo (winner of the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2001) and many other artists, authors and personalities of the cultural scene.
Who will take part to the event will also have the opportunity to discover or learn more about Langhe: take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity, treat yourself to some relaxing days between tastings in the cellars, hiking through the vineyards, farm lunches and cultural visits.

“A vintage to Your Attention”

Jancis Robinson, English Master of Wine, will be the guest of honor at the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo, for the official presentation of the Barolo DOCG 2009.

Starting from 9th JuneA Vintage to Your Attention” comes back in Barolo: the traditional event, organized by the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo in partnership with the Assopiemonte PDO & PGI, this year will present to the industry and the general public the Barolo 2009, and will have as testimonial Jancis Robinson, the “queen” of the English wine writers, one of the most influential and charismatic female voices in the world of communication and literature of the wine.

After a month of preparation, the Technical Committee has selected, among 15 samples of Barolo 2009, the most representative for the “Official Selection”, which will be “dressed” with a label art, created for the occasion by Joe English Tilson.

The presentation of the Barolo 2009 will start on the morning of Sunday, June 9th, at the Castle Falletti of Barolo, with the dedication of the Vintage to Jancis Robinson, and will continue until June 15, with a whole week dedicated to the tasting of new production.

A soon to be announced the complete program of the opening day and will be “revealed” in preview not only the names of the wine makers that participate in the event, but also the “labels” with which you will be attending.
