The great tasting event arrives for the first time in Castiglione Falletto to celebrate the “King of Wines” with the producers of Strada del Barolo
Saturday, September 3, 2022, the traditional appointment of the Strada del Barolo, now in its 9th edition, returns with Barolo and its producers as protagonists. The “King of Wines” presents itself to the national and international public in a touring tasting that, for the first time, will be held in the historic center of Castiglione Falletto, a characteristic hamlet surrounded by a landscape of vineyards and UNESCO heritage hills, in the heart of the Barolo production area.
From 16.00 to 21.30, over thirty producers will present different cru and vintages of Barolo and other local wines in a “widespread” tasting, at the foot of the imposing castle of the eleventh century, among the most secret and fascinating corners of Langhe, which with its massive structure dominates the medieval concentric hearth of Castiglione Falletto.
You can access the event by purchasing a single pass at the cost of € 30.00, which will allow you to taste the wines of all the attending producers without limit to the number of tastings. Each participant will receive a glass to take home as a souvenir of the evening and a coupon that will allow them to visit one of the wineries attending the event with a 10% discount on any purchases.
On the sidelines of the main event, there will also be two tasting areas, led by Chiara Giannotti of Vino.Tv and by the journalist Danilo Poggio, at the church of Sant’Anna, with the interventions of some producers who will talk about their experience and propose, for tasting, a wine particularly representative of their companies, not present in the main tasting. To participate there is an extra cost of € 10.00 per person on the entrance ticket.
The tastings will be paired with tastings of excellent agri-food products presented by company members of Strada del Barolo and it will also be possible to buy the products on site directly from the producers:
The public will also have the opportunity to enjoy hot and cold dishes prepared by the Cantina Comunale di Castiglione Falletto, which will be served – ONLY upon reservation – on the panoramic terrace at the back of the winery:
For the service, 6 shifts of 45 minutes will be carried out, from 16.00 to 21.00.
Reservation required by e-mail: comunicazione@stradadelbarolo.it, indicating the shift and possibly also the chosen dish (payment on the spot):
The event is organized by Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa, under the patronage of the Association for the Heritage of the Wine Landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, thanks to the collaboration of the Municipality of Castiglione Falletto and Tourism in Langa.

The initiative will be hosted in the scenic Cloister of Magnolia at Fondazione Stelline located in an ancient monastery of the fifteenth century, now used as a multifunctional space. The complex encloses a secret garden and a place that brings with itself fascinating stories: it is said that the whole area was once part of the famous Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vineyard.
Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 17.00 to 22.00 the inner corridors of the cloister will become an ideal route through the Langhe and the Tortonesi Hills where the Milanese wine lovers will have the opportunity to taste different labels of Barolo DOCG and Timorasso Derthona Doc. Twenty producers will personally present the multiple facets of these wines, offering different cru and vintages to taste.
The tastings will be paired with live music and excellent agri-food products presented by companies associated with Strada del Barolo and Terre Derthona and by I Barolisti, a winery with restaurant in the heart of Milan, which boasts a selection of over a hundred labels and offers menus with typical Langa dishes.
The public will have access to the garden overlooking the cloister: the perfect place enjoy food and wine and chill outdoor in a unique and charming location equipped with chairs and tables.
During the event there will also be interesting opportunities for further study: two tasting moments, at 18.00 and 19.15, led by Danilo Poggio, journalist, and Chiara Giannotti of Vino TV, writer. Some producers will also join these meetings, talk about their experience and propose, for tasting, a particularly representative wine of their companies not included among those displayed on the tasting desks set up in the cloister.
The cost of the entrance ticket is € 40.00 per person and includes unlimited tastings, in addition to the glass of Strada del Barolo and the cup holder. To access the tasting lounge there is an extra cost of € 5.00 per person on the entrance ticket.
