The initiative, promoted and organized by Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani together with Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa, is aimed at trainers, brand managers, journalists and buyers with the aim of creating a global network of Langhe Wines Ambassadors.
The Academy offers a mix of traditional lectures, guided tastings and lunches and on-site field trips led by highly qualified teachers, carefully selected among the region’s top experts.
The course in attendance is divided into three modules – climate and geology, native grapes of Piemonte and winemaking – taking place over three days, from Friday to Sunday. In addition to traditional lectures led by highly qualified teachers from the region, the programme also includes on-site field trips and tastings.
The program coordinator is the sommelier and tourist guide Sandro Minella. Natural scientist and geologist Edmondo Bonelli will take students on a journey through the geological eras of the Piemonte’s Tertiary Basin. Agronomist and professor Edoardo Monticelli will be in charge of the modules about native grapes – from Nebbiolo to the other vines of the Langhe. Professor Vincenzo Gerbi from the Università di Torino will lecture about the evolution of winemaking techniques. A final talk led by professor Stefano Massaglia will look at the Langhe wines’ market challenges and perspectives. Wine tastings will be held during each module.
Our offices will be closed from December 30th 2022 until January 2nd 2023.
We wish all our members and friends around the world a happy Christmas and a big wish for happiness for 2023!
After having become a must see event for hundreds of wine lovers who visit Langhe, the Wine Tasting Experience®, original tasting event devised by Strada del Barolo, will become, as usual, part of the official programme of the Alba International White Truffle Fair, which, now in its ninety-second edition, proposes a nine-week program of events and initiatives.
The Wine Tasting Experience® will be held every Saturday (in English) and every Sunday (in Italian) from 8th October to 4th December 2022 in the Workshop Room, Cortile della Maddalena. There will be two appointments for each day: at 3.30 p.m. and at 5.30 p.m. with a maximum of 15 people to ensure the necessary distance between the participants.
“The taste of the hills”, “The Crus of Barolo” and “The many faces of Nebbiolo” are the topics that will alternate during the entire fair. “The Taste of the Hills” is an introductory journey among the most peculiar productions of Piedmont, with the tasting of four different wines; “The Crus of Barolo” is a journey marked by the tasting of three different Barolo labels; while “The many faces of Nebbiolo” will compare Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero to explain the different expressions of the Nebbiolo vine variety.
The tastings will last about one hour and the tickets can be purchased in advance online on the website fieradeltartufo.org at a cost of 31.00 € per person, or on the spot at a cost of 30.00 € per person, with 15% discount if purchased in combination with two other Workshops (educational material and entrance at the “Alba White Truffle World Market” included).
Following the example of the French Ecole Du Vin, appointments go beyond the traditional tasting in a wine cellar, a typical stop for the wine tourists, especially for the opportunity to compare labels from different producers at one appointment. The tastings are guided by territory experts capable of explaining the secrets of the wines and satisfying any curiosity: the teachers are, in fact, producers, oenologists or skilled sommeliers, everyone with a personal point of view, with their opinions on the value of the perfumes in a stem glass, the pairings between food and wine, as well as the characteristics of the wines in relation to their terroir.
Questions from the audience, in-depth lessons, curiosity, tips on how to taste, wines of different producers: all these elements will make the Wine Tasting Experiences® a new way to approach the wine world, beside being a unique occasion to discover all the details of the wine production of the Langhe and Roero region. To make the Wine Tasting Experiences® more and more experiential and to directly involve the participants, the guides will use a video rich in infographics and interactive maps.

Barolo en primeur 2022 is CSR initiative promoted by the Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Foundation, with the
CRC Donare Foundation and with the Consortium of Protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani.
Barolo en primeur is a charity competition supporting projects of social utility, both in Italy and abroad, which will be matched with 15 2021 Barolo barriques, currently aging. For the first time this year, also the member producers of the Consortium of Protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani will participated in the auction: the wineries, that are united under the name of the Municipality of production, will combine the auction with 10 municipal lots made by their finest bottles of 2021 Barolo and Barbaresco.
On October 28, 2022 Barolo en primeur will take place in the scenographic context of the Castle of Grinzane Cavour, and in live streaming with world-renowned wine critic and CEO of Vinous Antonio Galloni in New York. The charity event, chaired by Christie’s auction house, will support several subjects and projects in the field of non-profit. The first edition took place in October 2021 raised over 660,000 euros, which funded 17 national and international charity projects. This year the proceeds of the auction of the 15 barriques will again fund projects and initiatives
of social utility in the fields of health, research, arts and culture, social inclusion and the protection of cultural heritage. Some of these projects and initiatives will be selected by the Foundations before the even, while others will be chosen directly by the winning bidders. The proceeds of the municipal lots will be donated entirely to the Oenological School of Alba.
The wine, contained in the barriques, comes from the vinification of the grapes harvested in the historic Gustava vineyard of Grinzane, produced and vinified by internationally renowned oenologist Donato Lanati. When the wine will have completed its aging in 2025, about 300 bottles will be produced from each barrique. More than 70 wineries are involved in the initiative, and donated over 1200 bottles in different sizes.
The bottles will be numbered and marked with a label, created by an internationally renowned artist: an unprecedented collection that will promote Barolo and its territory nationally and internationally, in addition to supporting various projects of social utility in Piedmont, in Italy and in the world.
The auction catalog was closed these days: there are 10 municipal lots and more than 75 participating wineries, including Barolo and Barbaresco wineries.
