The project, promoted and organized by Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani and Strada del Barolo e Grandi Vini di Langa, addresses professionals in the wine sector who want to increase their knowledge on the wines and Langhe area in an innovative and interactive way. The ultimate goal is to create a global network of Langhe Wines Ambassadors.
The course consists of three-day modules, from Friday to Sunday, with a unique program focused on enology, viticulture, marketing in addition to the study of MGA and educational tastings. The lessons, in English only, are aimed at an international audience and will be led by lecturers selected among the most leading personalities of the Italian wine scene.
At the end of the course all students will receive an attendance certificate. Lessons and tasting will be held in English only (no simultaneous translation will be provided).
*The selection will take place at the unquestionable judgement of the commission that will evaluate the candidates’ profiles on the basis of both the essay and the CV received. The title of Ambassador may be given to one or more students.
On the occasion of Vinum, the National Wine Fair of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, held in Alba from 22 April to 1 May 2023, the Strada del Barolo organizes two tours in the Barolo vineyards, to discover the excellence and prestige of some of the most famous “MGA“, Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive, in English Additional Geographical Indications, often known as “cru”, from which the “King of Wines” originates. A journey through some of the main production areas of Barolo, dedicated to passionate wine lovers interested in knowing the factors that determine the character and the infinite facets that Barolo can take.
The geological composition of the soil, the exposure, the slope and the altitude combine with the human factor and contribute to determine the character of this great wine: these factors can be summarized with the term “cru”, a word borrowed from the French, which indicates the portion of a vineyard with peculiar characteristics, a unique microclimate and – inevitable and decisive – the work of man. A magical microcosm capable of making each wine unique.
The purpose of the tour is to make this concept understood in a simple and “experiential” way, through a circular path, with a visit to three Barolo vineyards, accompanied by a professional sommelier, to learn about the peculiarities of soil, climate and human work that have determined the characteristics that will be found in the glass. The visit will end with the tasting of the three Barolo wines of which the vineyards were visited, explained by the sommelier and paired with cheeses and cured meats, at the winery of one of the producers involved.
The tours will be held on Tuesday 25 April and Saturday 29 April, with departure at 9.30 from the stands of Vinum, in Piazza Medford 3 in Alba (CN), and return around 14.00. The groups will then move with a 30-seater minibus.

After the success of the first edition, the Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa returns to Turin with a day of tastings at the prestigious and fascinating Palazzo Barolo, one of the most important Baroque noble residences in the Savoy city.
On Saturday 25 February 2023, around twenty producers of the Strada del Barolo will offer the public of Turin wine lovers a high-level tasting in the elegant halls on the noble floor of Palazzo Barolo, which was the residence of the last Marquises of Barolo, Carlo Tancredi Falletti and Giulia Colbert, to whose foresight and modernity much of the fame and fortune of Barolo wine is due.
The participants will be guided on a journey to discover the “King of Wines”, Barolo, which the producers of Strada del Barolo will present in person in its many facets, offering different crus and vintages for tasting. The tastings will be accompanied by excellent agri-food products presented by companies associated with the Strada del Barolo.
The event will be organized in two shifts, from 15.30 to 18.30 and from 19.00 to 22.00, during which two tasting lounges will also be held (at 15.30 and 19.00), with the interventions of some producers who will talk about their experience and will offer for tasting a particularly representative wine of their companies, not present in the main tasting. The theme of the meetings will be the comparaison between generations in the same cellar.
The entrance ticket costs € 40.00 per person and includes unlimited tastings, in addition to the Strada del Barolo glass and the pocket cup holder. To participate in the tasting lounges there is an extra cost of € 10.00 per person on the entrance ticket.
Participants in the event will also receive a voucher with a € 2.00 discount on the (full price) entrance ticket to WiMu – Wine Museum in Barolo and a € 2.00 discount on the purchase of the playful visit kit “Il giro del Vinovago”(reservation required), both valid until 30 April 2023.
