BAROLO 2010 OFFICIAL SELECTION by Enoteca Regionale del Barolo
In recent days, the meeting of the Technical Committee kicked off the last month of preparation, performing the complicated and challenging task of assessing the 20 samples of Barolo 2010 chosen for the occasion and to identify the most representative for the “Official Selection”.
President of the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo, Federico Scarzello, says: “As always, the work of our engineers and experienced tasters was invaluable. Thanks Giovanni Bressano therefore, Gianluca Colombo, Armando Cordero, Luca Faccenda, Giancarlo Germano, Lorenzo Tablino and Gianluca Viberti (in alphabetical order), with the usual skill because they have done a good job given the extraordinary quality of the wines. This was the first meeting after the election of the Board of Directors in November last year, and for the occasion we have added some new skills that have interacted very positively and have helped to confirm the central role of the Technical Committee not only in the choice of the Official Selection , but also in the tasting admission and quality control that are the basis of each Regional Wine.”
Archived choice of Barolo Institutional , we proceed now to the definition of the label art that will dress up the bottle. After artists like Beverly Pepper , Park Eun Sun , Mikhail Shemyakin , Kyoji Nagatani and Joe Tilson , Ezio Gribaudo from Turin will be to enhance his creativity with the image of the last year on the market and judging by the proofs viewed until now the result will be decidedly delicate and evocative at the same time.
THE EVENT
The presentation of Barolo 2010 will officially open on the morning of Sunday, June 1st at 11 am, at the “Tempio dell’Enoturista” inside the Castle Falletti of Barolo, with the dedication of Vintage to Monica Larner, the comment of the new vintage by the Grand Master of the Order of Barolo Armando Cordero and coordination by Sergio Miravalle and Giancarlo Montaldo. Then proceed as usual in a whole week dedicated to the tasting of the new production, which this year will be entirely housed in the renovated premises of the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo.
Explains the President Scarzello: “Continuing in the direction taken by a few years, here’s another important character linked to the world of wine with the same professionalism and the same passion that animate our producers and help to keep the prestige and quality of Barolo. After 2010 World Champion Sommelier Luca Gardini, the Italian wine writer and wine critic of national and international appeal Ian D’Agata and the Queen of the Master of Wine Jancis Robinson, for this edition Barolo still exudes an international climate and honored to dedicate his new vintage to Monica Larner , a journalist of high expertise that has made its way in the wine industry as a correspondent for the well-known U.S. magazine Wine Enthusiast, and last year was selected by Robert Parker as a correspondent for the Italian magazine “The Wine Advocate”.
Concludes the President Scarzello : “In a few days is the deadline within which our producers may decide to participate, then we will process the data received and the names of the wineries and the forms of the wines will be published before the presentation is on our Facebook and Twitter pages , both created in the appropriate section on the site www.enotecadelbarolo.it.
In addition, the week of the presentation will be a showcase for our new rooms, which we thought to make it more functional and attractive to be able to accommodate more and more events like the great horizontal tasting of Barolo 2010, but also to have a cool and young place where Barolo is still and always the center of attention.”
