The great tasting event returns to Roddi to celebrate the “King of Wines” with the producers of Strada del Barolo

Saturday 7 September 2024 the traditional appointment of Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa, whose absolute protagonists are Barolo and its producers, returns to Roddi: the medieval village and the imposing castle will be the setting for the eleventh edition of Io, Barolo.

From 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm, 34 Barolo producers will be the protagonists of an itinerant tasting that will start in Piazza Umberto I and culminate in the castle garden, from which you can enjoy a suggestive view of the vineyards and UNESCO heritage hills in the heart of the Barolo production area. Here, the national and international public will have the opportunity to taste different crus and vintages of Barolo and other local wines.

You can access the event by purchasing a single pass at the cost of € 35.00 per person in online presale, or € 38.00 on site (subject to availability), which will allow you to taste the wines of all the attending producers without limits to the number of tastings. Each participant will receive a glass to take home as a souvenir of the evening and a coupon that will allow them to visit one of the wineries present at the event with a 10% discount on any purchases.

From 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm, as a preview of the event, there will also be the lounge-tasting “Vignaioli di Langa: the wine artisans tell their stories” (IN ITALIAN ONLY) hosted by journalist Danilo Poggio, collaborator of several magazines in the food and wine sector, inside the recently restored medieval castle, with the interventions of Sara Vezza, owner of Sara Vezza and Josetta Saffirio wineries in Monforte d’Alba, and Denise Marrone, owner of Marrone winery in La Morra, who will tell their experience and propose a wine particularly representative of their companies, not present in the main tasting: Barolo Docg Castelletto “Riserva Millenovecento48” 2017 – Josetta Saffirio and Barolo Docg Bussia 2013 – Agricola Gian Piero Marrone. To participate, there is an extra cost on the entrance ticket of € 12.00 per person.

At 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm it will be possible to take part in a guided tour of the Castle of Roddi to admire the newly restored rooms, the historic kitchens dating back to the sixteenth century and the original medieval nucleus. To participate, there is an extra cost on the entrance ticket of € 5.00 per person.

To enrich the offer, there will also be gastronomic stands of the producers associated with Strada del Barolo and show cooking by Strada del Riso Piemontese di qualità, which will serve delicious risottos prepared at the moment.

The event is organized by Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa, with the support of Consiglio Regionale del Piemonte and with the patronage of Associazione per il Patrimonio dei Paesaggi Vitivinicoli del Piemonte: Langhe-Roero e Monferrato and the Barolo & Castles Foundation, thanks to the collaboration of the Municipality and Pro Loco of Roddi and Turismo in Langa.
